Sperm whales are the largest of the toothed whales. They are known for their large, boxy heads, deep-diving capabilities and unique vocalisations. Sperm whales are named for their waxy substance called spermaceti found in their blunt heads. These marine giants are found in all deep oceans, from the equator to the polar regions.
