Tuatara

Tuatara are unique, lizard-like reptiles. They are often called "living fossils" for having remained largely unchanged since the time of the dinosaurs. These reptiles possess a "third eye" on top of their head and have two rows of teeth. Tuatara are well-adapted to cooler temperatures. They inhabit burrows and are found only in New Zealand.
