Hippopotamus amphibius
The hippopotamus is the second-largest land mammal after the elephant. They have greyish-brown skin and are known for their massive size, barrel-shaped bodies, short legs and tails. Hippos are herbivores and have large, powerful teeth. These semi-aquatic creatures live in rivers, lakes and ponds in sub-Saharan Africa.
