Chimpanzees are a species of great apes. Native to tropical Africa, they are our closest living relatives and share about 98% of our genes. Chimpanzees are known for their black fur, flat face, large eyes and long arms that extend below the knees. They are also known for their intelligence, tool use and complex social structures.
